We all love open houses. Free food, good friends, and great memories. But having your own is another story. For a while Beth and I weren't going to have an open house but soon changed our minds. We set a date and just like that it was set! We decided to have it at our house which means DIY city hehe. Beth and I have always loved crafting and trips to the craft store so we conquered the task. Here are some ideas and tips for throwing your own open house. Hope it helps:)
1. Snap Filter

Technology and Snapchat is a huge part of our lives today. Beth and I decided to order a snapfilter a month in advance for the event. It's very simple to navigate snapchats website. We made and designed our filter ourselves but there are many already made filters perfect for any occasion. Make sure you put in your location perfectly and the time! This is a very cheap way to have all your friends know whose open house is that day.
2. Vintage picture boards
About two weeks before the open house Beth and I had this great idea of turning old picture frames and wood into cute vintage photo displays. We drove to Reo Town ( down town lansing) and bought two unique and vintage frames for about 25 together. We then went to the thrift store and bought three more frames to spray paint and knock out the glass frame. We strung some twine with push pins and hung up each individual picture with a small close pin.
3.Big 2017 balloons

We bought these balloons on Amazon for about ten dollars and had them blown up the day of. They are great for photo ops and decoration!
4, Memory Jar

I painted this old pot for a place for people to write down memories and out them inside. Great for an activity for people to do!
5. Photo Op Frames
These life sized frames are great for people to take pictures in. The first one I made just from poster board and the second one I made from an old picture frame mat. You can create any design and write anything about your special event.
6. Hanging up art and pictures in the tent

Hang up any art, awards, or any other thing that you want people to see. Tie string along the inside of your tent!
7. Create your movie
Instead of making a slideshow of pictures. Beth made this incredible movie created from all of our videos we have taken over 4 years. We had it playing at our open house and people loved watching it. Not gonna lie it makes me cry watching it.
8. Painted wooden card boxes
For quite some time Beth and I could not figure out what to put our cards in. Finally I was at Michaels ( my second home for the week) and saw two plain wooden boxes for about 6 dollars. I bought them and soon painted mine with acrylic paint. Of course Beth painted hers with sunflowers.
9. Bubbles and volleyball
The day of Beth and I went out to walmart and bought some bubble wands for the kids ( and us why not). We also got kids to play volleyball!

P.S betty looks like Ozzy Osbourne...just saying
10. Get someone to take pictures!
A special shoutout to Amy for being the greatest person ever and taking pictures at my open house. She really does have a special gift of capturing my favorite moments and for that I can never thank her enough. Here are some of my favorites that she took
11. Succulent DIY center pieces
My mom and us ventured to a small succulent farm to pick out a bunch of succulents. She bought small pots for a dollar at the local store and we decorated them with lace, crochet, and ribbon. We had three per table and my mom also picked some fresh wild flowers the day of the open house. We put them in old bottles from the thrift store and BAM we got out center pieces!
12. MUSIC
